“Rikka” in 2023 is on May 5 or 6.
According to the fixed-air method, it is when the solar ecliptic longitude is 45 degrees. According to the equilibrium method, it will be around May 5, approximately 136.97 days after the winter solstice. From there, about 15 days will be known as “Rikka”.
From this day until the day before “Risshu”, it is summer. It is also said to be the day when spring reaches its peak and the first hints of summer begin to appear.

Traditional custom (風習)
This time of year is also a time of many family-related events.
May 5 is “Tango no Sekku”, a day to wish for a boy’s success in life.
May 8 (the second Sunday in May) is also Mother’s Day.
